Thanks to the beautiful spring weather, Keukenhof – just an hour outside of Amsterdam – is now showing lots of tulips, crocuses and daffodils that visitors are marveling over. The Keukenhof also offers some spectacular exhibits this year. The theme this year is “From Russia With Love” with displays of Russian landscapes, a Russian-inspired garden, Russian wildlife in the children’s play area and, of course, the quintessential dacha and matryoshka dolls. The pièce de résistance of the exhibit is an enormous mosaic of the famous Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow, created from almost 65,000 flower bulbs. In the “Gone with the Wind” exhibit, the Keukenhof collaborated with the Zuiderzeemuseum, where it was first on display in 2009. The exhibit will present a selection of traditional costumes and contemporary fashions from Zuiderzeemuseum’s permanent collection from Dutch fashion and jewelry designers. Keukenhof also features the largest Lilly Show in the world at the Willem Alexander Pavilion from May 6-16.
